This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are all third graders at one of the largest Title I schools in our county. Our school is districted to include most of the apartment complexes in our county, many hotels, and several government assisted complexes. The majority of our students receive free or reduced meals. We also serve an unusually large non-English speaking community.
Many of my parents cannot afford to purchase the "extra" things needed for classes such as markers, folders, paper, etc., and it would be near impossible for them to fund a classroom "wishlist" from the teacher.
My Project
The supplies will go a great way in order to improve our daily learning experience. The pencils, pencil top erasers, paper, and glue sticks will go towards daily activities that we do in class. In math, the students use a lot of scratch paper and do a lot of erasing. They need the paper and erasers in order to continue the great strides we've made in math this year. The ink will go towards printing brag-tags for my students to continue their excitement for learning. The students get so excited when they get to take a brag tag home to share with their parents. Thank you so much for supporting my project and helping my students succeed.
