Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the privilege of working with an extraordinary group of students who come to school everyday ready to learn and explore. All my students receive services in the Resource Special program, and come to our classroom for specialized academic instruction in small groups. Each student who comes to program has a learning disability that adds extra challenges to their school day. Our school is located in a struggling part of our city, with 35% of our student population designated as homeless. Despite these adversities, my students continue to shine and work hard.
My students continue to teach me valuable lessons that I will carry with me always.
They persevere, they remain curious, and are always excited to learn something new. They're gifted students with so much to teach the world, and I hope to give them more opportunities to do just that.
My Project
Our 6th graders have worked so hard, that we want to provide them with their school supplies for a stress free transition to middle school! This year, as we do every year, we are looking to provide our kids with binders, paper, pens, folders and more! BUT...we need your help again! Our school is located in a struggling area, and school supplies are a stressful and expensive part of starting a new year at a new school. I want to take the burden off our families, and make sure our kids have what they will need next year as they continue on their educational journey.
