This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in an urban neighborhood school, a lot of my students have a limited amount of resources for daily use. More than three‑quarters of the students come from low‑income households. I’m asking for help with school supplies things to decorate my classroom as far as furniture for my math centers. No teacher should have to worry about not being able to provide the most basic resources for their students because of a lack of funds that I can't provide for my students. I work part times job throughout the school year to buy things for my classroom, but at my school, I have to pay out-of-pocket for items like tissues, hand sanitizer, and dry-erase markers.
Students show up at my classroom door lacking far more than school supplies.
Schools cannot continue to be the only institutions expected to reverse the effects of poverty.
My Project
I am requesting basic classroom supplies for daily math usage for centers, dry erasers markers, erasers, cleaner, dry erase cloths to clean white boards, we use dry erase markers daily. I have also requested large amount of bean bags chairs and area carpet rug to make the math center more flexible sitting and a large pocket chart that will be used to show students which center to go to on a daily basis. Also some classroom decorations to make the classroom look nice etc, bulletin boards, calendars. With these basic classroom supplies and center furniture for flexible sitting , my students will start the year with the essential tools for learning in an organized classroom!
