Middle school students are full of wonder and imagination. They are on the cusp of becoming adults, but still see the world through magical, wondering eyes. Their imaginations are fueled by what they read and many of them are just starting to discover the endless joys that reading a good book can bring. They are finding their favorite authors, genres, and book series. Unfortunately, many of these students are not reading at grade level and are missing out on amazing journeys that books could bring them simply because they cannot comprehend books at harder levels.
The majority of my students are the ones reading below grade level.
Many are kids that come from broken homes, military families, or other countries. Some have learning disabilities. All have had experiences that have not helped to grow their reading ability, but to hold it back. These students have so much potential just waiting to be unlocked!
My Project
Without school supplies, students are left behind from the start. The students at my school are predominantly on free and reduced lunch and come from homes where parents have trouble making ends meet while living paycheck to paycheck.
Donating to this project will help provide ALL of my students the needed basic school supplies that will enhance their learning.
Every day students need pencils, paper, notebooks, markers, and highlighters in order to be successful at learning to read and to write. When they don't have supplies, they can't do work.
