Help me give my students basic school supplies for everyday use. Pencil/supply bags for students desks will provide them with the supplies they need when they enter the classroom instead of anxiety because they do not have materials
My students are a diverse group of talented individuals, who learn based on different instructional methods. Our school is located in Southeast Texas, and our community was affected by Hurricane Harvey last year.Several students were homeless, and some are still slowly moving back into their homes. We have an extremely diverse population of students.
My students are resilient and determined!
Most student experienced flooding and are still rebuilding their lives, but come to school ready to learn each day. The majority of my students are economically disadvantaged, many are English Language Learners, and some are even new to the country. Even with the challenges they face they come to school each day eager and ready to learn!
My Project
In 5th grade we teach 120 students daily in a four class rotation. The majority of our students are economically disadvantaged and many move frequently. As teachers we work hard to provide the supplies needed for each student, but with such large numbers it becomes extremely difficult. Every student on our campus receives FREE breakfast and lunch, so students do not have to worry about going hungry.
My goal is to provide daily supplies for each student, so they can focus solely on learning and growing.
When meals and supplies are provided students do not have to wonder or worry how they will complete work and projects. Supply lists are sent home each year, but unfortunately most families are unable to purchase school supplies. During the daily rotation students use pencils, glue sticks, scissors, and colored pencils daily and its becomes extremely difficult as teachers to continue providing these materials which are crucial to learning.
