This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very sweet and hard-working. They come from homes that do not have much. Most of my students come from homes that have single mothers raising them. These single mothers usually work several part-time jobs to get by. Most of these students come to school at 6:30 a.m. in the before school program and stay until about 5:30 p.m. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner at school. Even though these students have tough challenges in their lives, they still make the most of their day and put forth their best effort. They truly want to excel in school and in life. These students deserve to have all the opportunities that others have despite their daily challenges.
My Project
Most often my students have a difficult time finding funds to buy school supplies. The supplies in this project will allow for students to create openly. The students will cut construction paper to glue on their project to make it beautiful. They will use the markers/pencils and crayons to individualize their project.
These school supplies will allow for my students to use their individual creativity to create, design and build innovative inventions.
The students will use the notebooks to write about their thinking while creating. I will be designing interactive notebooks in reading, math and science with the supplies which will enhance student learning.
