My Students
I currently teach access points students that are all diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual disabilities. My students require daily classroom accommodations designed to fit their sensory, individual and medical needs. This school year, I will be moving to a new school that is opening its doors August 2020. I will be teaching students in the primary grade level.
A few of my students have communication disorders and a few are nonverbal.
They rely on using effective communication boards designed and created by me to communicate their wants/needs or respond to questions about our academic content. My students require continuous assistance in different areas of their school day. With visual prompts, colorful images and laminated material, it helps me to instruct at a more effective and inclusive way of learning.
My Project
I am an access points teacher chosen to help open a special needs unit for the grand opening of our elementary school.
With an opening of a new school, there are needed materials to make the opening of the unit a smooth transition for my ESE kiddos.
It will be used to supplement materials in the ESE setting for students.
With your donation I can set the room up for success and have differentiated material to welcome all the differing needs of my kids with varying disabilities and needed accommodations.
