This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Some have everything they need for an extended period of time at home, while others are relying on the school to provide paper and pencils so that they can continue learning during this extended closure.
My Project
As we ran out of classrooms in March, I gave my students enough paper and markers to last them for two weeks. I didn't know then how long we would be out of school and how many of them did not have the needed supplies at home to continue doing our at-home projects.
I have talked to my students' parents weekly and many keeping saying we want to do the work but we don't have paper.
The school has been able to provide some paper to families but they need so much more!
