Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach very sweet group of students. They arrive to school every day with a smile on their faces and are ready to learn. My students enjoy asking questions to dive deeper in to what is being learned and always have connections to make to the real-world. I work with my students in small groups and individually to provide them with individualized learning. They get so enthusiastic when I get to answer all their questions in a small group setting!
Unfortunately, most of my students do not come to school with personal school supplies.
This forces me to to acquire supplies for them or ask my students who do bring supplies to share. Almost always, my students will share with their peers, they are so kind. My students love opportunities that show off their creativity! They enjoy working in groups and creating their own examples of definitions. In my classroom, we have a positive classroom climate. My students love to interact and work together. They are very helpful with their peers and always do their best.
My Project
Students need basic school supplies to learn! We will use the pencil boxes to store colored pencils, glue sticks, pencils, and erasers. Students will keep this supply box in their desks. Students will use the colored composition notebooks for our Math, Science, Reading/Writing, and Social Studies block. The Math notebook is the most important because students use the Four Square Problem Solving Model when solving word problems. This includes students writing down the important information, using a pictorial model to solve the problem, writing the suspected number sentence, and checking their work using a different strategy. We will also utilize the folders to keep all in-progress work from Guided Reading as every group and some individual students receive tailored instruction based on their own needs. These folders will help them organize and track their progression as they learn more reading strategies. Thank you for your support!
