This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am the only school counselor for over 600 amazing students. Ninety percent of our students are Latino, and 76% are from low-income families. About 11% of our students are considered special needs. Our students are bright and creative and come from hard-working, loving families that want to see their children succeed.

Due to the pandemic, some of our students have missed over a year and a half of in person instruction.

My Project

Our students will be returning to in-person learning in the fall and I am so excited for a school year that is more normal than the previous two school years. To help our returning students and their families, I would like to make sure they have the supplies they need to start the school year off right. I am requesting basics for the classroom like a pencil sharpener, pencils, paper, and folders. Additionally, to maintain a safe and clean learning environment, extra precautions will be taken so wipes and disposable masks are an absolute must for students to stay healthy.

With so many changes and hardships for some families due to the pandemic, it is important that we provide those students with essential supplies needed to be successful.

Having basic supplies is a necessity for students to participate in classroom tasks, guaranteeing that they are set up to excel this year.
