Our students come from all backgrounds, neighborhoods and family values. My school was built on the impact of social-emotional learning, constructivist learning and putting children first. The beauty of my School Counseling position is seeing students mature throughout the years and seeing them use the language/teachings from the social-emotional curriculum we teach from Kindergarten and apply into various parts of their school day until they graduate.By the time our students get into middle school, they are asking to help to problem-solve with their younger students. So much so that we created an elective for them. Campus-wide all students, teachers, and staff use similar language for empathy-building, problem-solving, pro-social language and other social-emotional areas. Our kids are change-makers, go-getters, empathetic, creative and kind. They want to learn and be at school during our current school closure.
My Project
With little notice (due to to the Covid-19 virus), our school is a safe place for many of our counseling students, families and staff-closed and went 100% online. To continue giving our kids a safe environment online, foster the valuable community we have built and continue with the imperative lessons we have taught; we are in need of items for our home learning. If you are able to support our counseling department - we greatly appreciate it. Our students need their counseling programs to continue. Please help our counselors continue the programs our students need. Your support will give students to see their work, provide notes, and see their lessons.
