Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students from Tucson take part in an Opening Minds through the Arts (OMA) Gold program, which emphasizes the importance of an arts integration curriculum. This program gives children from all cultures, areas, and backgrounds an opportunity to learn and thrive within our district. My young artists enter the virtual classroom eager to learn, create, and imagine!
They gleefully create music, choreograph dance routines, and design original masterpieces throughout the school day!
Each student shares a deep sense of pride in our school culture, and recognizes their role in our school and community!
My Project
The materials requested will establish a collection of literature to develop student's social-emotional competencies, specifically for K-5th grade. The materials will be used in conjunction with the School Counseling program. The most important benefit is that students will learn that reading has a purpose in developing a strong social-emotional awareness. Students will learn through open discussion and artistic expression of these readings across their elementary education.
Your donation toward this Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Library would not only help improve student reading comprehension, it would expand comprehension to encompass emotional awareness and competencies.
Students need the opportunity for genuine experiences with literature to motivate them. This SEL Library would help my students to engage in deeper and more transformative guidance lessons. Thank you for your support :)
