This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My wonderful students come from challenged backgrounds, but they crave fun and exciting ways to learn. My students live in a low-income, inner-city neighborhood. All students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students have struggles at home and it is my job to make sure they are able to accomplish what they wish in school.
One of my goals as a teacher is to provide things that my children are lacking and to create a positive learning environment.
Most students come without supplies that are necessary to thrive in school.
My Project
The Scholastic workbooks for grades 1 and 2 will help them to master the sight words that they need to know by the end of the year. Sight words can be a difficult thing for some students to master, but these workbooks will allow my students the opportunity to learn them and have them reinforced. I will also be able to work with small groups and use these books for the students that need the most help with sight words. The Scholastic books for grades 3 and 4 will help them be able to be better writers. It breaks down the writing process step by step and allows them the opportunity to interact with the content and create their own writing piece.
