I teach at a low-income charter school. All of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch. We are only in our third year of existence, therefore we are still trying to get everything we need to be successful. My students come from all different surrounding towns to make up our school. Some ride the bus almost an hour to make it to school. This is my first year teaching at this school and I'm starting from scratch.
I want my students to be eager learners and to be excited to learn new things each day!!
Every child that walks in my classroom is very special to me and I only want what’s best for them.
I'm requesting the Scholastic Science Spin magazine subscription for my students. I plan to use the subscription to help bring real world topics into our classroom and relating it to our science standards. Not only will we receive the magazines, but we will receive access to videos and resources to take our lessons and conversations further.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to increase student engagement, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
I believe having access to this resource will help improve non-fiction reading skills, rigor, and create discussions among my students. Which all are important skills for our students to have.
