My Students

In my classroom, I have 22 students, projected to reach 25 this week. I expect to have up to 29 if growth continues in our area as expected. They are a mix of diverse backgrounds, with some ELL's. We are a title 1 school. There is a fairly equal mix of boys and girls in my class. They are energetic and kind. I am excited to start the year as a new teacher by engaging my students. By differentiating their learning experience, I know this will useful for my students. Students love the technology that goes along with the Scholastic News readers. They can watch a video to give them a real-life connection. They can read along. They can play interactive games. When students are cheering because it’s time to do a Social Studies lesson, you know you made a great investment in them.

My Project

There are so many different types of learners, and Scholastic News offers many engaging lessons that also include technology and games. This will make a difference to my students by giving them the opportunity to use these lessons that are not offered by our school. Our district has made so many cuts that our students are the ones that miss out. When using these magazines, I have noticed the students tend to make better choices, follow along, and prove their learned skills when given the learning that stimulates them. I have seen what this can do for students and hope we can receive them for our classroom.
