My students are 5th grade students who are full of energy and wonder about the world around them. They come to school with a tremendous drive to learn. They are some of the most determined students I have ever worked with. Everyday they enter the room ready to work. My students are curious and eager to have more learning experiences. Our school is located in the heart of Wake Forest. Most students are born and raised in this wonderful community. They are very special because all of the students have such a special bond with each other.
These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy-I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently! My students will be able to read about real world news. While they are reading about real world news, they will be able to work using strategies taught in the classroom. Scholastic News also provides the students opportunities to work on standards that are being taught to them. Right now we do not have access to age appropriate news that will keep them up-to-date. This will provide them with that. The Scholastic News will also help provide global awareness to the students in my classroom.
