Help me give my students Scholastic News Magazines to help foster their love of reading and learning!

I have a very diverse group of 34 sweet eager first graders coming to me for reading and writing who are ready to learn and shine when the school day starts. My students come from high poverty low income households with limited exposure to technology at home. Some of my students have special needs and behavior issues. I want to provide my first graders with engaging learning opportunities so they will grow and feel a sense of pride and happiness!
My students want to succeed and love to learn new things each day!
I want my students to love and feel safe at school.
Along with coming from low income homes, my students have many different learning needs. Some need extra time in certain academic areas while others need enrichment in these same areas. Many of my students need space and choices to do their best every day! There is a large range of reading and writing abilities and levels in my 2 sessions of my reading and writing blocks. Many of my students are still below grade level.
I teach in a wonderful, supportive school with students who love to learn. Being that we are half way through the school year, I want to provide every possible resource for my students to learn and grow as readers! Scholastic News Magazines will help continue to expose my first graders to nonfiction literature on a regular basis.
Students love reading and learning about current events.
Scholastic News Magazines are a great resource for my students to do this. The articles are engaging and on grade level and bring the real word right to their finger tips! With rigorous standards in place, first graders are expected to read, comprehend and analyze non-fiction texts. Scholastic News Magazines can make this happen! Best of all, my students will be able to bring their Magazines home to read and share with their families! Please help provide current reading articles to help my students continue to grow and reach their goals!
