My students work hard and I yearn to help them love school. Many come from families who do not have a lot of education in their background so my students can teach their families.
I love their willingness to try almost anything with no fear!
They are inquisitive, eager, and ready to learn. Our area is 85% poverty so they are not exposed to the idea that they can do or be whatever they want. I try to give them these options throughout the year by using the core curriculum but bringing in the arts and sciences as much as possible.
My students live in a very small community. Many of them never even leave their small city of Rosamond. Scholastic News will give them the chance to see the world!
My students need exposure to the world, current events and non-fiction text that will motivate them to want to do more with their lives.
I have been lucky to be able to use Scholastic News in my previous classes but our district cannot afford to provide it so I need donors like you to help us. My students love to learn and have improved in reading so much! These magazines will help them even more.
