Scholastic News in The Classroom!
My students need access to relative & current news articles . We utilize this magazine across the curriculum to support their reading & writing while learning about science, social, studies, & current events.
I have an amazing, hard-working group of 2nd grade students. We have a classroom community of 23 students built upon a strong foundation of character! They love to read everything that they can get their hands on and have lots of energy! We are a K-5 neighborhood school in a suburban community. Learning about the world around them through experiences in reading and through videos enhances their understandings. I love this group of kids and I am excited to see them grow!
My students love to read all things non-fiction! Many of them come from low-income families and English Language Learning homes. Being able to provide them with relevant and current news articles to read, discuss, and write about will definitely open their eyes to the world around them and beyond our community. Scholastic News provides grade-level appropriate non-fiction text for students along with digital support that they can access through their Chromebooks or whole class viewing. Using the articles gives my students a chance to read, discuss, and respond to text in an authentic way and then bring the text home to their families.
