My students are in a two-way dual immersion program at a school in the Bay Area. Our school is an inclusive community dedicated to the education not only of students' minds but their hearts as well. Our students are learning how to read in English and Spanish by engaging in all kinds of texts and genres from fiction books to informational magazines!
Our students are wonderful and curious children excited to learn about the world around them.
They love to read about current events and science. Scholastic News helps keep them up-to-date while incorporating nonfiction reading skills that they need. First graders love learning, and Scholastic News makes it fun in both English and Spanish!
My Project
Scholastic News is one of the best ways to integrate science, social studies with reading, writing, and math. Students love when the magazine arrives and they can catch up on the current news! There are so many important issues in today's world. Scholastic News presents information in such a way that it is interesting, accessible, and appropriate for first graders in both English and Spanish.
Scholastic News brings the world to our classroom!
Each month there are 4 new issues that arrive right at school. There are online resources and many great printable activities as well. These cover all curriculum areas including graph-reading, interpretive comprehension, and opinion writing. Scholastic News makes learning fun and accessible for everyone in English and Spanish!
