My students come to school each day ready to learn. They are eager and are full of curiosity. In first grade, they are eager to work hands-on and love to look at pictures of interesting articles. My students love to work together to solve any challenge that comes their way.
My school encourages critical thinking, creativity and collaboration and having activities that combine these skills help make my students a 21st century learner.
The curiosity that these little humans bring into my classroom make my job worthwhile and make everyday great!
My Project
This project will make a difference in my classroom by allowing my students to have access to on-level, current and engaging non-fiction articles. These articles are, also visually appealing which will make it easier for students to stay focused. When students see pictures that catch their interest, it makes them want to read to find out what the cool picture is about.
I have a lot of students in my classroom who are still learning English and the Spanish version of these magazines will help these students understand what is being discussed/taught.
This monthly take home magazine will offer parents a tangible opportunity to engage their children in a conversation about what they are learning in our classroom. This resource will provide students with a high level non-fiction text and will allow students to take the magazine home and continue to practice reading skills along with sharing with their family.
