Not all students have the opportunity to travel and learn through personal experiences - but it is our job as educators to bring the world into our classrooms and teach our students about different events, traditions, and cultures that impact our society every day. This is even more important right now due to the nationwide pandemic.
Our students are truly inspiring.
Many of them do not have the resources or family support that we often take for granted. This has been especially apparent through this pandemic. As teachers, we establish relationships with our students based on trust. They know that we are always going to have high expectations because we honestly believe that they are capable. They may struggle, but they know that we are going to help build up their confidence. The staff members are personally invested in their students, and not just in their education, but in their overall well-being. These magazines will benefit both our virtual and in person students, and increase their knowledge of the world around them.
My Project
Scholastic News provides engaging lessons about current events and unique stories around the world. The content is rich in developmentally appropriate vocabulary, and the digital options make the lessons interactive while encouraging differentiation based on learning levels.
My students love finding their speech sounds in the text, and they are able to learn new vocabulary through the engaging lessons!
Scholastic News magazines are a great way for students to practice both articulation and language skills. My students also love having flexibility to choose their magazine each week, and they look forward to practicing their skills with the digital quizzes and games included in each edition!
