This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Day in and day out, my third graders come into our classroom ready to learn! They are driven and determined to be successful with everything they set their mind to. My students are diverse and each and everyone of them is a unique, amazing individual. They come from many different backgrounds, have different interests, and they all learn at different academic levels. Despite their differences, they all have one thing in common which is that they all share the love of learning.
My Project
My third graders would love and greatly benefit from their own personal subscription of Scholastic News magazines. The magazines provide fun and age appropriate current events and information for students. The magazine's format are great for growing readers because of all of the great text features that students can use to navigate through the text. Not only are the articles engaging, Scholastic provides printable activities for students to complete using each article. On the last page of each magazine, there are fun activities such as crossword puzzles and word searches that students can complete for fun. My third graders do not get enough exposure to different varieties of non fiction texts so it would be amazing if I could continue to expose them to different nonfiction resources.
