Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have twenty-five first and second graders who are eager to learn. They love to come to school, and the school year requires several supplies that will be used. Our school is a Title I elementary school in the California Bay Area. Students are in constant need of supplies, and donations from families are limited.
Children thrive with hands-on learning.
All of our students love to learn, and I make it my goal to help them absolutely love coming to school each and every day.
My Project
The Scholastic News program provides an engaging way for students to learn about various informational topics. The monthly articles are used as part of our English Language Development (ELD) program.
Students absolutely love engaging reading topics.
The Scholastic News program provides just that. Students are also able to watch short videos on the magazine's digital component. There are also printables for students to practice reading and writing skills that are based on the current week's magazine. Students are also able to participate in fun and engaging skills games that also correlate with the magazine issue. This program is well-liked by our students, and we want to make sure we are able to continue to provide this mode of learning to them.
