My students teach me new things every day! Most of my students are up early each morning, and out each night helping to care for their family farms, preparing for their upcoming rodeo or spending their spring weekends branding cattle.
My students come from a rural farm community where hard work is their everyday norm.
My students' values are deeply rooted in hard work and getting the job done. That being said, many students truly value hands-on experience over more traditional directed instruction. My students crave experiential learning, and show tremendous growth when they are involved and ‘getting their hands dirty'.
My Project
Scholastic News is a fabulous resource for students. It offers high quality content that is interesting and engaging to students.
Students need quality and relevant literature in their lives, Scholastic News will provide these experiences for my students.
One of my favorite features of this product is the online resources. Students are able to interact with the text they've read and make connects with real world videos and examples. Not only are they building on the background knowledge for future reading, they are deepening their knowledge on a variety of interesting subjects. This year I discovered how many of my students were interested in the Titanic, with Scholastic News I was able to dive deeper into the subject.
