I am very lucky to teach a wonderful group of kindergarten and first graders that have a variety of physical, cognitive, and behavioral disabilities.
These students work very hard to learn new things.
I spend my day teaching small groups of special education students in my classroom and co-teaching in a first grade reading class and a kindergarten math class where I am able to work with small intervention groups in the classrooms to all students in need.
Our urban school has a high poverty level and is made up of a very diverse population.
My Project
Scholastic News is a fun and interactive magazine designed especially for kids. I am requesting the first grade magazine in order to be able to help supplement the science and social studies curriculum that we are using in the classroom.
Every month our classroom will be deliveved a new magazine that will help teach us science and social studies topics that First Graders need to learn.
Each weekly nonfiction magazine includes engaging nonfiction topics that builds on first grade reading skills using science and social studies topics that match our curriculum and standards. Along with the magazines, teachers are given digital copies and activities to be used along with the magazines.
