My students are in a Title I school in Las Vegas, Nevada. Our school is located in a high-poverty area, and all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students come from many different backgrounds and for most, English is not their first language.
I strive to provide my students the opportunities to grow and succeed in their education and life.
We have some very motivated students who need to be challenged and encouraged, and we have some students who need help with motivation, but are more than capable of being just as successful with the right tools.
The Scholastic News subscription would be a great addition to our classroom learning. This magazine provides social studies and science information targeted for first-grade learning.
Students will get to use the magazine to help aid in their learning of the important social studies and science standards they learn in first grade.
The students would also get to improve their reading skills in the area of informational text, which is an important reading standard. The Scholastic News subscription would help in extending the learning opportunities in the classroom. We would greatly appreciate the help in providing this resource for the classroom.
