Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in an inner city public school which houses a program for Autistic Impaired Learners. We have a diverse population of students with various Autism Spectrum disorders.
My classroom consists of eighteen children, two of which are on the Autism Spectrum.
All my students are the most kind and hardworking students you will ever meet. They are so genuinely thoughtful and selfless. Watching how all students accept one another for their unique and beautiful differences is truly amazing. I am the luckiest teacher on the planet!
My Project
The scholastic magazine subscription is an amazing supplement to our Social Studies and Science curriculum. It touches upon current events, meets rigorous ELA standards, and builds critical academic skills. The students really enjoy accessing the videos, games, and vocabulary to go along with each magazine on-line as well. We want our students to succeed and become college and career ready.
Many families have obstacles and we want to make sure their children have the tools they need to become strong readers of nonfiction.
The cost of Scholastic News may seem minimal to some but for struggling families with numerous school age children, the cost can be overwhelming. This subscription would relieve the economical and financial stress for families who cannot afford it for their children.
