My students need more interesting reading material! Scholastic News and Storyworks magazines are such amazing resources for students. They are interesting, relevant, and exciting since they get an issue weekly or monthly!

Many of our students are wonderful, curious individuals that want to be inspired. I do everything I can, and my students respond so enthusiastically! They appreciate hard work, creativity, and FUN! However, with fun comes responsibility. These students are learning amazing lessons in dedication, citizenship, and perseverance. They are able to get their hands dirty and have a good time, all while maintaining their focus on the objectives at hand.
My students are hungry for knowledge, yet we often do not have appropriate materials to guide them in instruction and experiences.
While hands-on activities are amazing tools to use with these curious learners, structure and personal responsibility for one's work is also very important. Building portfolios and connecting information across different types of resources is very exciting for them since they are documenting their learning as well as connecting that learning with their sources. These students are very eager and interested in multiple ways of reading, doing math, and experiencing science and social studies. Every opportunity they can take to learn something new, they take advantage of to the fullest!
Scholastic magazines will elevate our reading groups to a much higher excitement level! It is always exciting to receive mail! Students will get to read Scholastic News weekly, and the Story Works monthly to extend our reading, science, and social studies skills in one resource.
Scholastic magazines would be incorporated into small groups where my students could explore reading in a more relevant and interesting way.
Having their own magazines would allow them to write in the books, which will personalize their reading experience and give them the ability to practice the reading strategies we have learned in the classroom.
