Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our Kindergarten class is a diverse make up of students from our neighborhood. Our student population is very diverse; with children from all over the United States and the world. The vast majority of our students are reading below the expected grade level.
Many of our families have limited financial resources making it difficult to provide materials students need to be successful in the classroom.
Subsequently, it is a challenge for our school to meet the demands of the supplies and materials needed for our students. Regardless, our students are enthusiastic about school and come prepared and ready to learn. They deserve a learning community where lack of funds can be overcome by excitement, drive, and commitment.
My Project
Research shows that our kids need experience with a variety of high quality text and its features. Scholastic Magazine provides quality non-fiction articles that support educational standards providing the ideal opportunity to enrich student literacy and learning. Each student will receive their own copy of the magazine, which is always super exciting for the kids!
With the subscription students will also be able to access videos and activities online to support and assess their learning of what they've encountered in the magazine.
Hope you can be a key to the success of providing my Kindergartners with such a valuable tool!
