Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Title I school with students from second to sixth grade. My students are from the inner city and are mostly English language learners. Our school is a pilot school. The school's philosophy focuses on leadership skills with an emphasis on critical thinking and twenty-first century skills.
My students are hardworking, resourceful, and self-motivated young people who are eager to be lifelong learners.
The majority of the students who attend our school will be the first in their families to attend college.
My Project
Exposure to the variety of colleges found throughout the country is important. My students can set goals as to what college they want to attend. I want to promote higher education by displaying flags from a variety of colleges throughout my classroom and school. My students will be researching the different colleges.
It is never too early to learn about college requirements and to the future with academic goals in mind.
I want to take every opportunity to promote college and its importance to their future. I want to encourage my students to seek a higher education. Having students learn about the different colleges in our state is a start. Students need to learn the importance of higher education and this project will promote the idea of having a college education in their future.
