Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
With all of the technology we are all exposed to in our everyday lives, it is hard to get children excited about learning by using paper and pencil activities all day long! Help get my students get exposed to technology in the classroom and make learning more exciting.
I am a 2nd grade teacher.
The majority of the students in our school are below grade level. About 98% of our students receive free lunch. My students are wonderful and eager to learn despite the many obstacles they face. I love coming to work everyday and teaching my students.
My Project
My students need a document camera. We are looking to open a window into Elmo's World. I teach a class with a variety of needs and learning styles. Due to budget constraints and lack of funds, my classroom is not as technology rich as I would like. Without the variety of tools in the classroom, I find I am unable to reach all my students at the same time.
Having an Elmo in my room will help bring all my students into the lesson. I will be able to use the Elmo in lots of ways to bring variety and novelty to the room. I will not only use it to display worksheets, but I can also project real coins when I teach my students to count money, show mixed up letters, and have the students arrange them into spelling words and even display 3D shapes when teaching geometry.
