Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Title I school with students from second to sixth grade. My students are from the inner city and are mostly English language learners. Our school is a pilot school. The school's philosophy focuses on leadership skills with an emphasis on critical thinking and 21st century skills.
My students are hardworking, resourceful, self-motivated young people who are eager to be lifelong learners.
The majority of the students who attend our school will be the first in their families to attended college.
My Project
Reducing, reusing, and recycling is not just an idea anymore, but it has become something that has to be implemented. With this project, my students will be introduced to how much recycling, reducing, and reusing can be put into practice on a daily basis.
My students need the OWI Air Power Racer Vehicle, 4M Green Science Dynamo Torch, 4M Tin Can Cable Car, recycled pencils, recycled post-its and a rechargeable/solar powered radio.
Students will be using recycled post-its for reading comprehension of informational text, recycled pencils, listening to a radio, and building robots. Students will use recycled parts to create a tin can cable car, use alternative energy for a racer vehicle, and turn hand motion into electrical energy. All of these items mentioned will build curiosity as students will be using the scientific method for building the robots.
