My Students
My students at MSSHS are special because they come to school everyday rain or shine wanting to learn even though some haven't eaten nor have the support from their loved ones. I work with an unique population of students who are not able to have the same resources as their peers. More than 90% of the student population qualifies for free and/or reduced-price lunch. Approximately 80% of the students live in single-family homes and 15% are homeless.
My Project
These items will be able to help my athletic students by helping them to carry their athletic gears more effectively. Being a teacher and seeing my students carrying their athletic gear in their hand, bookbags, and even plastic bags. Living here in South Florida, it is always raining and sometimes these students have to practice in their wet clothes. By having an athletic bag, the student would be able to protect their athletic gear and make them a better player on the field. The waist bags would be able to help the athletic trainers carry the emergency supply kits. The water bottles would be given to students who do not have so that they can refrain from sharing water bottles on the field.
