My military students embrace technology on a daily basis in our classroom and also when they are at home.
Whether it be creating an original writing project on Storybird, or Skyping a parent who is deployed across the world, my students are learning that technology can be a useful tool in their lives. More importantly, my students are learning that the basics in the classroom may also include anything from a piece of paper or interaction on a Mimio screen. Learning can happen in my ways, and it is important for me to present their learning opportunities to them in a variety of ways so that every learner is able to learn by their own unique learning style.
My Project
My classroom is a very busy environment. On any given day there may be numerous learning opportunities happening simultaneously. This creates not only a learner-centered environment, but it also meets the needs of each student. I am requesting the multifunction scanner/copier to help assist my students in interacting with the curriculum that I have in place. By using a scanner to scan a particular item, I am able reduce paper usage and I am able to provide a more interactive opportunity for my students by utilizing the Mimio system that is already in place. The students are more highly engaged, and I am helping the earth be a little more "green"! Additionally, by using the printer option, I am able to create colorful and engage file folder games that I can laminate and use for years to come! Finally, sometimes I just need that "one more copy" when I am short on a written assignment.
This document scanner/copier will open up different methods of learning for my students.
It will be a useful tool not only for the students I currently teach, but also for many years to come. It makes sense. It is a logical, useful, and budget savvy solution to meeting the needs of my students. It saves time and reduces depletion of natural resources. This item could demonstrate to the children that technology and concern for our environment can work hand in hand.
