I teach at a school in suburban South Carolina. These students make up forty-seven classes in grades Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade, including special ed, regular ed, and gifted students. Many of these students come from low income families and they rely on teachers or the school for their materials. All of my students love new experiences. They are always eager to get involved in learning. Our mascot is the “Busy Bee” and we certainly stay busy trying to make every moment count in class!
My Project
The music room is a very exciting place to be but it can also be very loud. Just imagine up to 28 students at a time moving, singing, and playing instruments. It's a good kind of loud but it is LOUD! It is hard for students to hear me over the music we are making and it is very frustrating for all of us to have to stop the lesson for me to make a comment, suggestion, fix something, etc. If only the students could hear me over the music without having to stop. They can with your help! Our current PA system died last week after 9 years of constant use. We need a replacement system for more music making!
With this personal size PA system I can use my normal voice and students will be able to hear me.
Singing and talking very loudly for six hours a day is harmful to my voice. Stopping the music making to address needs is frustrating to students and takes precious time away from our instruction. With this new pa system we can have our cake and eat it too! I will also be able to make great strides with my special education students with the wireless microphone. Many of these students are either nonverbal or have extremely limited speech. I would love to help them become more vocal and start using more speech.
