Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are wonderful little learners! They live in a small community, and the majority of my students are from Spanish speaking homes. My students come from low-income families and various socioeconomic backgrounds, but despite these challenges, they come to school ready to learn. They all receive free breakfast and lunch to keep them going throughout the day.
My students are eager to try new things!
Once they enter my classroom, the smiles and conversations begin, and that gets me ready to teach and learn!
My Project
Have you ever heard of the Desk Monster? Some of my students have been attacked by this monster. It only happens in their desk so no one has really seen this creature. It crumples their papers and shoves it to the back corner. It puts papers in different folders, even in the homework folder, and the paper is gone forever! The paper madness going on in their desks happens on a daily basis. This monster really causes some stress to my students and myself.
Please help my students stay organized!
They are in need of a binder to hold 4 individual folders. Each folder within the binder will hold important papers for math, reading, writing, and homework. The binder will help keep daily folders in easy access and in one spot! The use of binder pockets will also help my students keep most recent papers together in one spot so they are not searching through their binder. They we can rotate the papers as needed. During math and reading instruction, some papers are needed for more than one day and with those papers held neatly in a binder pocket or dry-erase pocket, my students will be prepared to start the lesson. I'm also asking for fine point dry-erase markers to aid in neater writing on the dry-erase pockets. Organizational skills are very beneficial for my students to start learning. It helps keep transitions quick and their mind at ease from being attacked by the desk monster!
I teach organizational skills the first week of school and throughout the year as we learn more and have access to more materials in the classroom. I know these materials will be a huge benefit for my students to develop their daily organizational skills in my classroom and in future classrooms.
