My Students
My 3rd grade students arrive to school eager to learn and socialize! All students are provided a free breakfast and lunch. Some students' home lives are a bit chaotic, which leads to a high transient rate. Our school is older, so there is an established neighborhood around us that we are continually trying to bridge a stronger sense of community.

My ultimate goal as a teacher is to empower all my students with a sense of community, leadership, and goal setting. Quite a few of my students come from unstable homes, so the classroom needs to be the one constant in their life. They need to feel safe and provided for. They need to know that against all odds, if they put their mind to it, they can do it!
My Project
These two class sets of Scholastic magazines will help not only open the eyes of my students, but also their families. The current event magazines will help facilitate good dinner conversation, while bringing school home in an entertaining way. Scholastic magazines are a classic staple in the classroom that have not only changed with their clientele, but also the times. To continue the bridge from school to home, I'm in need of family engagement kits to help facilitate monthly family meetings. The monthly meetings are brief meetings to help support the families at home while we both mold their future leaders.
