Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are four and five year old children who are full of excitement and eager to learn every morning when they walk into school. Many of our children come from immigrant families who do not speak English as their first language. However, our families always emphasize the importance of school and an exceptional education for their children.
One hundred percent of the children in my classroom receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of the children I teach are living in poverty. Although their basic needs are not always met at home, they still have a love for learning that makes it easy to come to work every day and teach them!
My Project
At the end of each school year, my associate and I send each of our preschool students home with a bucket filled with materials to keep them engaged in learning activities during their summer break from school. The books we have asked for will encourage the children and their families to read together this summer and continue to instill a love for reading in our young learners. The sensory balls will be great for indoor or outdoor play to keep improving the kids’ gross and fine motor skills! Our students and their families would love these materials to add excitement and variety to their at home summer activities!
