I teach at a middle school where the students are hardworking and respectful. They do not have the best of situations within their community. We have a severely high rate, almost 100%, free and reduced price lunch program qualification. Many of my students come from broken homes, are homeless, or are exposed to gang life and drugs. Even with all of this surrounding them, they come to school every day ready to learn, showing respect, and continually being responsible for themselves and their decisions.
My students are very caring and hardworking students.
They work very hard and love to learn. It's hard to teach them without the proper materials as we are a Tier I school with very few resources. I love my students very much, and I want them to have the very best education they can have.
Many of them are being raised in single-parent households, foster care, homeless situations, and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be .
The new camera and lens will help my students in reaching their creative potential easily instead of struggling because they don't have materials. The materials we need are not available, and the money for them isn't available either.
At our school, students use technology and cameras to explore their artistic abilities and more, but being a Tier I school makes it hard for students to have the best they can in technology.
In the yearbook class that I teach, there are not enough cameras and lenses for all of the yearbook students to use. It is very hard to teach them and give them a creative outlet without all these materials.
