My Students

Our school library serves 525 diverse students with a passion for reading. Our school services kindergarten through fifth grade. In addition, we have 5 ESE classrooms (including pre-kindergarten students). Fifty-four percent of our population receives free or reduced-price lunch with 100% receiving free breakfast. We have 15 different languages spoken.

My goal is to instill a passion for reading that helps to create lifelong learners.

Our vision is "preparing students for college and life.” My hope is to help our county reach that goal by equipping our students with the skills that are essential for a successful future.

My Project

I would like to create a "Wall of Fame" in my media center that celebrates students’ reading. As students are "caught" reading throughout our school, I will be able to snap a picture and add it instantly to our wall of fame for all their peers to see.

The fun pictures paired with bright Polaroid borders will allow the students to show off their passion for books on the bulletin board featured in our library.

Adding a section for "Book Buddies" will encourage students to read the same book and create their own mini book clubs. Books are always more fun with buddies.
