Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from across the globe and face enormous challenges. We are a high-poverty school and my students come from many backgrounds. Many are English learners and speak Spanish, Korean, Bengali, Tagalog, Russian, and more as their first language.
My students are a bright, motivated, and incredibly diverse group of middle school students.
I am inspired by their hard work and dedication to learning. In the face of challenges, they are resilient.
As a teacher, I want to inspire my students to persevere as they navigate growing up in Los Angeles during a pandemic. So far this year, we have been distance learning. Every day, I teach English language arts to 7th graders, French to 8th graders. I also meet each day with my advisory students to focus on their social and emotional health.
My Project
Our French class is highly motivated and eager to learn. My students have made so much progress this year. I also want to fill my French class with materials that will help them to learn vocabulary words and decorate and brighten the room.
Help brighten our students' day with charts and fun posters to make our classroom a welcoming environment.
The charts will help students identify how they are feeling in French, as well as welcome them to the room. They will also serve to reinforce the concepts that we are learning in class. They may even pique the interest of my 7th grade English students and maybe they'll sign up to study French next year!
