Help me give my students a Unicef Powerband. This step tracker is the key to helping them not only increase their personal physical activity, but unlock life saving food packets for malnourished children across the world.
My students are amazing world changers. They have huge hearts and truly try to show empathy to others. Anytime someone is sick or going through a hard time, they ask to write a card. They collected items to make cheer bags for children with long term stays at Detroit Mott Children's Hospital. They have also eagerly learned about how Unicef helps kids from all over the world. Students blew away our fundraising goal for Trick or Treat for Unicef and found some pretty unique ways to earn money. Right now they love unlocking food packets for malnourished children doing "Power-up" challenges in class, but are eager to make a bigger impact with the powerbands.
The most amazing part, is that I teach at a school a great deal of diversity in socio-economic status.
We are a Title One school, which means a large portion of our population receives free and reduced lunch. Some can give freely without worry, but for others it is a true sacrifice, and they do it happily. I would be so thrilled to provide my amazing students with another way that they grow as people and make the world a better place.
My Project
The powerbands I am requesting are a tool to not only improve the life of my students, but to save lives around the world. Each powerband is a step tracker that earns points to unlock life-saving food packets to malnourished children around the world.
In our classroom, the powerbands help increase student activity for a more healthy life.
We also learn about people around the world. We learn about their daily life, their culture, and most importantly, ways we can be helpful. When using these Unicef powerbands, students realize the world is much bigger than they realized, and that they have an important role in making it a better place. Seeing the number of food packets grow, and watching videos about the people we are helping is a truly life changing experience for kids.
My class was so excited to learn about this project and can't wait to be a part of it. Please consider helping make this a reality for my amazing students.
