Ms. Lorek from Cleveland HTS OH is requesting reading nooks, desks & storage through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students and staff the ability to have small sets of books for reading. The locking counter height cabinets are great for this because they will fit behind my circulation desk for easy access.

My Middle School students love to read! I am their school librarian! We have a diverse population of highly creative students. They really like to read books that are realistic fiction.
There are students everyday that come to see me looking for a book where they recognize the characters and events in their own lives.
With over 85% of our students on free lunches, these students don't have books at home and rarely get to the public library. They rely on their school library to get books.
As I have been focusing on this part of my collection, I have found the need for more space for these sets of books that students can choose to read together. Teachers also use many of the sets of multicultural books for small group reading to help enhance our schoolwide literacy instruction.
I prefer for them to be in a locked cabinet for me to give to the teachers and groups of students. I find that if one or two copies go missing then I have to reorder them. I need a locked cabinet for the sets I purchase so they can remain in sets.
The materials I am purchasing will allow me to have a collection of group sets of books. I can lock them up and when a teacher needs literature for circles, or for small group instruction they will be readily available close to me.
Missing books in a set do not help anybody and since multicultural realistic fiction is a hot commodity by students, I have copies on the shelves and set aside for staff and small groups.
This will be any easy way to provide storage for books that have been specially purchased for this type of reading. Thank You!
