This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from an urban community in the heart of southeast Washington, DC. Our school is a public school that strives to give students and families a variety of experiences beyond the traditional means of elementary school. We are a blended learning school where students use technology to enhance learning in all subjects.
My students are extremely special because they are transitioning from the Tools of the Mind curriculum and moving to a highly accelerated kindergarten program that uses more than four blended learning platforms.
They must successfully complete their curriculum and prepare for the rigors of first grade.
My Project
My project is geared to helping my students and I communicate effectively. I have a small classroom with 30 busy and vocal little learners. Learning in a classroom filled with 32 different voices can make it hard to hear each other.
A microphone speaker system will help to amplify my teacher voice so I can deliver instruction without straining my teacher voice.
The microphone and speaker would help increase sound volume so that all classroom presenters would be heard clearly and precisely. Using a microphone will help limit the interruptions and deliver content more effectively.
Microphones are a great way to increase student engagement, expand classroom community, and bring fun to learning. Microphones also serve as a great way to practice turn taking. When students have a microphone, they feel important and they take pride in their work. They can really work on their speaking and listening goals.
