My Students

My students are high energy kids who love to talk, discuss, and participate in hands on activities. At times, it can be hard for them to sit comfortably in a chair all day while remaining engaged and focused. When it comes time for a brain break, my class quickly leads a quick game of "Ship Captain," where they are found running around, playing, and laughing together. It is quite the scene to watch! At times, I find my students sitting or laying on the floor instead of their desks. I want to provide my students with options for flexible seating to allow them choices on how they want to approach their learning for that day.

My Project

At the moment, students spend hours sitting in standard desks. Yes, they act as a great storage space, but that's it! My students have lots of energy and enjoy talking to one another while moving around to stay engaged.

The goal is to get rid of boring desks!

By using plastic storage drawers, students will have a place to keep their materials, supplies, and books while our classroom transitions to flexible seating. The items I chose are stack-able plastic drawers.

As I eliminate desks, students will move their things into their own personal drawer. This will help them stay organized while remaining focused and engaged with the option of choosing seats in the classroom.
