My diverse twenty-eight first graders are the most eager learners I have ever met. This group of six and seven year olds, come to school every day with a desire to learn despite the many obstacles they face. For one, our school is over a hundred years old so the building we work in has many issues. Also, our school is in a high poverty district with little support for technology, books, and necessary classroom supplies.
No matter what, my students are hardworking and dedicated and strive to be excellent model citizens.
It is because of these extraordinary students that I work as hard as I do to provide them with the best opportunities. They deserve it!
My Project
The way the world is going, knowing how to use and having access to technology is important in becoming a successful citizen. We integrate technology in our classroom as much as possible especially since many of my students do not have technology at home. We use iPads for intervention programs for my struggling students, for my high-level learners to push them to take their learning further, for our English Language Learners to visually understand the English language, access books we don't have in the classroom and play numerous math games to become more fluent with addition and subtraction.
In order to have our classroom run smoothly and successfully, it's imperative that we purchase these ten quality headphones that have a microphone so children can access programs without disrupting the other children learning.
Currently, we have broken headphones that have the sound go in and out making it difficult for children to use the iPads and uncomfortable earbuds that are just too challenging to put in six and seven-year-olds ears.
