Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am currently a third grade teacher to amazing students in a low income community. I have the same students from last year because I was given the opportunity to loop with them. I am so thankful for that! We are having a fabulous year! Aside from being in the Class Champions and Coyotes Reading program, they are students that strive to be their best selves each day. They set high standards for themselves and push themselves to be their very best each day. We are an extremely close classroom with much to celebrate.
My Project
Our students are living in a world where taking care of our Earth and understanding how to be an active part of a community is a high priority. Our school recently started a Green Team, where students help our campus become "green" by recycling and taking part in the community to help improve it, as well as educate others. I have several students that are members, as well as a class of students that want to know how to help our planet. I am seeking literature that will illustrate the importance of our planet and how to take care of it, so that students begin to positively impact the community and understand their roles. I always tell them that they can make an impact at ANY age. The chosen books will help begin important conversations that create positive changes.
