Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
How does the world of technology assist my students? In countless ways!! My students require differentiated instruction in order to maximize their learning. A multisensory approach when working with special needs children is an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY. That is why an AV cart is essential.
As a SETSS provider I service students from K-5.
SETSS stands for Special Education Teacher Support Service. My program is a supplementary service. My students are in a General Education setting. All of my students have been evaluated and have been recommended for my program. Their challenges range from learning disabilities, speech impairments, auditory processing disorders to the physically challenged. Currently I service 28 children. My school is a high needs school where parents cannot access the resources middle-high income families can afford. My kids are the sweetest children you'll ever want to meet! They care about their learning and they want to be just as successful as the rest of their peers. The older they are the more aware they become of their challenges which in turn has a negative effect on their self confidence.
My Project
I have AV equipment but I cannot use it because I require a cart that can hold these items. The equipment will give the students more visuals to support their learning. The possibilties are endless.My kids will be able to remain on task and more focused during Reading and Math instruction. I will be able to enlarge the print to point out specific details during Reading, Writing, and Math.
I will be able to teach Math word problems in a more organized step by step fashion and prevent confusion.
ONE CART= Countless opportunities and many years of positive interaction.
It's amazing but true how one item can have such an impact on learning. This cart will make it possible for me to enrich my lessons by providing a much needed space to place my AV equipment. The wonderful thing is this will have a positive impact on student learning for MANY years. Students will become better readers, writers, and thinkers. Help me build learning bridges from childhood well into adulthood!
