This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Save me a seat! My students have the freedom to work around the room and I would like to provide a more comfortable setting for them to work out of their seats and during whole group instruction.
My students are eager to come to school and find out what new and exciting things we will do each day.
They attend a Title 1 school. They enjoy listening to new stories and immediately become best friends with characters in books we read. We have a carpet that we meet on that is old and all students do not comfortably fit on this carpet.
My Project
We need a carpet for group time. My students will be able to work in small and whole groups on a carpet this size. They will have a comfortable place to relax and read a book or to work on their projects and/or research. The class as a whole could fit on this carpet together to increase our classroom community and sharing. They very much enjoy working out of their seat!
Students will enjoy using this carpet during many "brain breaks" and movement activities on the carpet. Students will stretch and use gonoodle.com without leaving the classroom, students participate in a variety of purposeful movement designed to get the wiggles out and refocus the classroom.
This will help make our classroom become a more inviting and comfortable setting with movement integrated throughout our day.
Students will participate in Zumba Kids while on this carpet in their own safe space.
